Promax 480 motors vs 380?

Post by tao »

I got a pair of Promax 480 motors a few years ago and now putting in some 4:1 steel gears from Dominque on my KT.. these gears come with 380's.. just wondered if anybody has tried both and there would be any noticeable difference by replacing the 380's?
There was a big difference in power when I replaced the stock motors with the promax but these 380's are supposed to be quite strong. I know there are sooo many motors and specs so just curious if anybody had tried these two in particular :) Thanks! Tom

I find all the stock motors including the "improved more torque" ones are rubbish and either change to speed 400 or 480 motors which gives my tanks a new surge of go.

I have a 6kg metal Tiger with standard ratio gearboxes and speed 480 motors in and just turn down the speed setting in my IBU2 and the motors are strong enough to move it's ass. Admittedly 3:1, 4:1 would give more torque and help turning.

I got my motors from ^ ^ ^ and they're great! Them with a 2 cell lipo, IBU2 board and all metal drive train and my tanks can go places their real counterparts would never try to go!

Sounds like the promax 480's may be stronger..got them from Phil who really praised them. Was curious if
anybody thinks whatever those 380's that come with the 4:1 steel gears are right up there with the 400's etc?

Give me the rest of the weekend, Tom, and I'll get you some video with slow speed action in the JT and KT, the new v-2 four shaft GBs with the new motors. I can't tell you much about the 480s, but at least you'll have some examples of the 380s. I can provide a side by side between 380s and the 360s I got from ebay. Try this, two Imex full metal T1s side by side, the only difference being motors, both with 4 shaft black steel GBs. Both tanks are box stock Imex Taigen with Taigen electronics.

When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!
