Began the assembly of the Schurzen armour just now. Its from Tank Modelblau & is styrene CNC cut.
Not entirely convinced this will go on as I reckon its a bit flimsy.
I might use it as templates for brass so its less likely to be destroyed later on.
The Winterketten Do fit, but only just.
Also mucked around with the stowed load to try positions etc. Most might be covered with a tarp of some kind, so ideally the whole lot needs to be removeable as the mood takes me.
All the spare track sections are removeable, in case it needs some ;)

Off to work for a week tomorrow, so no build progress, but will be able to look in as this time I will have coverage.

I cant wait to do brass hangers. I've test fitted the styrene mounts and once they set, are actually pretty tough.
Trouble with going away for work- impatient when home :problem:
No camera at home just now, pics when I can ;)

Great to see you working on it again.

Don't know if you have what we in the US can get to repair concrete. Its called vinalized concrete patch and is a powder with no aggregate in it which makes working with it very easy (no rock chips or chunks in it) and sets up pretty quickly.
I used to use it to simulate stucco and even bricks when rehabbing real buildings.
Would work perfect for your concrete covered areas.

We would probably have that kind of stuff here too. I did not think of that kind of approach, but the stuff I did end up using is a fine mortar used for tiles & stucco facias etc. Once it dried, I covered it in a light wash of PVA glue diluted. Seemed to seal up the 'pores' and leave an acceptable finish in scale.
This build is actually pretty bare-assed fun, nothing planned, nothing consistent, certainly no set final look, just a "suck-it-&-see" deal. Helps if it is started out to look a train wreck, if things dont quite go so well it will still look like a train wreck

Glad you found a way to get the effect you were going for. The stuff I mentioned wouldn't have needed the glue wash it so much finer then tile mortar.

A few pics of the mounts.
The actual hangers are very fiddly-that means fragile, so I will see how these shape up once all are on & dry.
All the left side rear mounting rail and mounts will be "destroyed" to match the (lets asume) mine or other high explosive damaged area missing the guard etc.

Cheers Mr Kaiser, its got that much stuff sticking out of the outside, its starting to look like a loaded crab pot
I am a little bit constrained to the age/design of the Schurzen because of the early/mid style of the rest of this machine.
Could have got away with a lot more if it was a very late war example chucked together out of spares and repairs .

The girls are all out at a dance concert tonight, so I'm "mr Mum". Really want to get the rest of the guard brackets on if I can.
Then I can get primer on the entire hull.
