Hello tankers,
My name is Roy and I'm- well- a tank addict. Yes, it's hard to admit, but there it is. So far as I'm aware, I'm the only one in this part of Scotland. Anyway, I've been lurking in the background since July, gleaning all I can about RC Tanks (my last modelling experience
was eons ago with Airfix and balsa; during the age of steam, in fact!) I enjoy , and now share, your enthusiasm. Approaching Armistice, seems an appropriate time to admit my growing tank bug to all assembled. My late father (pictures etc., to be added to the
ancestors section later) served in WW2 in an armoured reconnaissance unit, using Humber armoured cars (2-pounder + Besa 7.62mg), and bren carriers to confront all manner of german hardware, including Tigers, Luckily, the Humber was very nimble and had an effective reverse gear. Luckily for me, he also survived the war.
His brother, my late Uncle George, a sergeant, commanded a mortar squad/bren carrier in the same recce unit.
Currently, I'm building an early Tiger 1 using parts from Steve at Welshdragon (a gent, and 100% great source), RCtank.de., (another 100% er), and a metal turret from Taigen Tanks/Imex in Florida. The latter cost an arm and a leg, but has the new airsoft recoil system. The tank has: metal wheels, taigen metal chassis, all-metal transmission, photo-etched grills and more. I've also given it a winter camo scheme. The weak feature in the system has to be the sound. Currently, as a newbie, I have the 2.4ghz Taigen mfu..with its one- sound- fits -all trademark unimpressive chugging sound. Thus, I'll be picking brains when it comes to electronic upgrades. The IBU2 looks promising, but again, I've a lot to learn about radios etc.
I also went to look at the Tiger 2 restoration project in Full, in Switzerland, in the summer and actually (like a tank groupie) got my hands on the Koenigstiger. Anyway, that's me for now.
Cheers (slainte!)

ON the record, you guys got robbed of a well deserved Rugby semi final by what until then I felt was the best reff in the world.
I reckon you lot would have flogged Argentina & gone on to be flogged by us, but we shall never know eh.
Welcome in matey, feel free to ask away, the mob is all over the ways to get the best out of your modelling experience !

Welcome 43. Would very much like to see how that airsoft recoil works so please post some build pics as you work on our Tiger.

Good morning,
Welcome to the Forum! It has been many a year since I walked up and down High Street but I remember Edinburgh and the whole of Scotland with great warmth. My replica of Wallace's 12th century sword still hangs in my library to this day. Pictures of your Tiger when you get the chance, please.
regards,
Painless Wolf
