Hello All! I'm Paul, almost 50, modeling for over 40 years, new to R/C tanks but have been building static smaller scale armor all my life. Just got my first Full Option Kit, a Panther G from Tamiya, and have the suspension started. I plan to build it as a "runner" with nice but practical upgrades and details. I also got from a friend an original issue Tamiya M4/105 thats in pretty bad shape that I'd like to restore and use the resin 76W turret/barrel and transmission cover that came with it on at some point after the Panther build. I'll be reading up on recommended upgrades for both and would love some input from fellow members on the subjects as well.

Welcome Paul from Roseville CA. I finished my Tamiya Panther G a month or so ago. I built it stock with the exception of a TBU, gear box brace from ETO, and an idler system from Henn Tec. It is a very good running tank. Good luck with yours.

What state are ya in? Lots of very skillful builders here so I'm sure you'll have fun. The Tamiya Panther should make a great first tank build.

What kind of static models? I've been doing 1/32 and 24th WWII fighter aircraft for about 45 years myself (with the occasional bomber thrown in for luck).

Colorado here, along the Front Range in Firestone. My Panther G is a hybrid of Taigen\Tamiya. It's already on the list for a metal, torsion bar equipped lower. The upgrades never end since we are in a Golden Age of RC Tanking! Photos of your build when you get the chance, please.

Thanks for the warm Welcome guys =-) I'm in Oregon . In reply to what other kinds of models, I do HO scale kitbashed/super detailed locomotives, 1/32 Aircraft from all eras though I prefer WWII mostly and up until I decided 1/35th just wasn't as big as I wanted, 1/35th armor. SIZE MATTERS especially since my eyes are changing thanks to age, and I know I'm thoroughly hooked on 1/16th. I also have a static all resin kit from Cromwell (1/16 Hetzer) I'm about 80% done with.

I used to do HO scale trains but when my daughter wanted the basement to be here bed room the UP lost the battle. 24 scale miles of double track main line all hand laid code 55 and hand laid switches. 18 stall round house with working indexed turntable. 5 track wide Coalinga tower, switching yard, 2 small towns and out lying houses and buildings, everything lit up. I had 4 big boys, 4 challengers, 2 4-8-4's, all of the UP passenger sets from Riverossi, an A-B-B-A F series set, not to mention 2 2-6-6-6 Alagany's just cause they were soooo nice! A handful of switchers mostly from kits I got from an OLD local hobby shop and 280 assorted cars and 30 caboose. All gone.

Awww man you're breaking my heart with that story.. It's amazing what we do for our kids when you look back at it =-) I do hope my son will remember too when I'm to old to build models..( in my late 90's I hope).

I just hope you got a good price for it, Jack. If you got back 40% of your investment you did good.
