2 local guys killed, when live firing round in their M-18 Hellcat.

Terrible news.

Some people fly restored airplanes and sometimes they pay the ultimate price when they fall out of the sky.

Then there are those who fire live rounds out of old tanks...

It's very exciting to watch - but I guess scale dreams are safer...

We salute them all the same!

Any word as to why the round went off inside the tank? It sounds like it wasn't even in the gun when it went off.

Tragic that two guys that were enthusiasts for preserving history passed as a result of that enthusiasm.
Cold comfort to the families that they were doing something they loved when taken so soon.
