Got a bit more done on bits & "bloodyzimmerit" !
Mounted rails & tags for spare tracks, added some waffle coat to the rear plate & hull sections............still lots to do.
Soon will be the Schurzen brackets(or whats left of them) and cargo rack members.Welds & cut marks etc.
This thing is a freestyle MX of the tank world :haha: :haha:

Thanks mate, this printing caper is a bit laborious, but should be well worth it in the end.
I have to modify the stamp to allow access to the narrow spots on the engine deck, sure is a lot of Revell Plasto putty to lay on :/

Thanks mate. I agree it sure does add to the over all feel of the thing. Be nice to get paint on it or at least primer and all the other bits soon. I'm out at work for now so will get up it asap

I thought these pics might be interesting for you. This is the stug III at the Imperial War Museum Land Warfare centre at Duxford. Apparently it still has the original zimmerit finish on it.

sorry the pics aren't that great. The exhibits are all roped off and the lighting is quite dark in the centre :/
Wow, I really appreciate those pics Mr Scalawag. I also recognise that Jagdpanther from the "proper" museum in London. I was there in '09.
I understand the roped off thing though, plenty of idiots around that might like a momento off an exhibit like that. :problem:
The zim on that Stug looks like I wanted mine to look.
Used, and distressed.
Bit like me really ;)

Cheers Mr Alpha, Ive watched in awe of others doing the more traditional wavey zim coat and shaken my head. No way I can pull that together. The method & finish I have got is in line with the look I needed to achieve, a bit rough, a bit haphazard.
I guess like a partial field applied/partial factory original coat that has suffered the effects of time in theatre.
My only true regret is not primer covering the hull before doing the zim, then I could simulate wear & damage a bit easier.
Was iffy about the stuff not sticking & dropping off to leave a nasty grey base patch.

I am also revising the concept of fully loading the ass-end with stowage. Unless I make it removeable, the zim job is for nothing :/
