Never seen these before, look like they would be ideal for recoil use.

Re: Linear Servo's
Ive seen some pretty damning reviews of these. Quality & reliability seem to be the main problems.
They look much to fragile for tank recoil.
I'd stick with conventional servo's for now.

Re: Linear Servo's
Thanks for heads up, in that case I will give them a miss. Shame they can't improve the quality, they would be ideal otherwise. Having said that I have stripped down two of my mini servo's. One has completely mangled gears, and the other has good gears but is jammed solid. It almost burnt my fingers when I touched it. Might have to try steel gears in future.

Re: Linear Servo's
80g of torque isn't much either. The slightest bit of friction and they'll have real problems. Servos are one of those items that you really get what you pay for.

Re: Linear Servo's
I had thought about a solenoid but thought thev return would be too fast.
Wonder if a spring could slow down the return?

Re: Linear Servo's
I looked at solenoids a couple of years ago, and tried a low voltage one. It was way too weak to pull the barrel. The problem with them is that unless they are installed carefully they are effectively an electric fire element, eg current going through a coil of wire and heating up. In the end I decided that servo's were still the best/safest way forward.
