Not sure anymore.

Post by jackalope »

As much as I enjoy building these R/C tanks I'm kind of at a cross roads with them, there us no one around me to battle with and just walking around the park or neighborhood is getting quite boring. Not sure this is a worth while hobby as the tanks are getting more and more expensive and just running them around by myself is getting old.

Not sure if I should just hang it up.

Morning, Jack,
I don't have anyone who is 'into' them to run my Armor around with either. I get my enjoyment from the Build and sharing it with you guys in here. I learn, enjoy and become a better modeler. I run them myself or grab the Mate and we run them around the neighborhood when the urge strikes. Kids, young and old, love them as you have discovered. ;o) Don't hang it up. We all need a Hobby.
regards,
Painless

If you are thinking of stopping, work out what the next step is - ie why did you start doing it and what will you do instead. Personally (and that's all anyone can state) I'd take a break and/or try something a bit different.

Maybe you need a new challenge. Ever thought of building a kind of diorama for taking photos of your tanks? It doesn't have to be huge, but it can encompass a lot of fun things that we can all stand to improve our skills at, like carpentry and wiring. Maybe some kind of building front to take photos in front of? You could wire it for lights or maybe even motion with figures or a little dog or something. Do other types of modeling appeal to you? On my list for the winter are quite a few figures, which is a hobby in itself but very closely related to the tanks. I also have a bunch of buildings to detail, which is yet another hobby in itself. Got a daughter? Buildings for our tanks can be a lot like doll houses. My niece can't get enough of the farm section in my tank village. It's got a ducky, Uncle Gary! :)

I was going to say that, they have a tank section. If you fancy a trip up, you are always welcome at the Bristol Group meets. We actually meet at Temple Combe which far south of Bristol if that helps. You could also put the word out on here and see if there are others in your area who might like to start a group going with you?

Take a break, I was 100mph at start of my cemax build at beginning of the year then just lost interest since then worked Rc trucks and construction plant then just this week I decided to revisit some of my tanks and got my leo2, tiger 1 rebuilt and ready to battle and got the elefant out again.

We all have low points so good to have a break now and again.

I'm not leaving guys just kinda bummed out looking at prices of this stuff and all I do is run them around my yard it seems.

Maybe I just need to order some parts and keep on building.
