Can I ask - are you all using Tamiya battle systems or is there a clone that works with tamiya's system?

HI, What you need to know about I/r Battling is there are internationally recognised rules and one of them demands the use of TAMIYA compatable I/r systems. BUT it does not mean you have to use a TAMIYA Tank or a TAMIYA I/r system,
The usual way round this problem is to remove the HENG LONG RX18 control board or its TAIGEN/TORRO equivalent and replace them with a CLARK or an IBU 2 control board both of which comply with the rules and operate the I/r system in the same fashion as TAMIYA's.
It is still cheaper than buying a full spec TAMIYA Tank!

We battle to the Tamiya system although most use other systems to the Tamiya electronics.

At the club we have Tamiya and IBU plus Clark boards and Elmods they are all compatable with each for battling plus you must have your IR emitter builb in a tube with 6mm of tube from the tip of the bulb.
This stops the gun shot effect and keeps the ir beem narrow.
