Mato metal sprocket for M1 Abrams issue

Post by atcttge »

I was so eager to install the metal sprocket when it won't fit the gearbox's shaft. Turns out the metal sprocket inside looked like this:

Note that there are two tabs instead of just one. WTH?!?

Is this a quality control issue or is this the norm for M1 sprockets? My Mato Leo 2A6 metal sprockets were ok. I'm thinking this is a quality control issue, that they forgot to drill away the extra tab. So now I need to fix this for it to be usable.

Ideas?

I have to make a correction for the record:

The tracks were not ordered from Mato but from eBay now that my memory is clearer. The sprockets came with the tracks.

So I guess I'll have to grind that extra tab to fit the driveshafts, yes?

Yes they are made to fit Tamiya shafts. Had to do the same thing to metal sprockets I bought for a M26 to put them on the HL shafts.
