thanks brel still a way to go and guys if your thinking of making the re grills work warning you have to remove the 2 screw posts and these are used to secure the rear down with the new chassis arrrggghhh

got a fix though will post shortly

thanks jake the gearboxes turned out to be a mare to fit screwed them in and the mounting holes are 2mm off
brought my sprockets out of alignment with the rest of the roadwheels  >:( >:(

all sorted now

Looking good...you've got a knack for the brass work.  Fun watching it get made and the step-wise photos are great, too.

Why did you have to modify the road wheel axles?  The AsiaTam site shows a set of axles for plastic and a set for metal wheels that seem to be a companion product for the lower hull.  Did they not work?

Do you think the gearbox holes were off because you were using the low-profile boxes?  Or, would they have been off even with the stock metal boxes?

i didnt have stock pins from asiatam so cant really comment on them my originals were from H/L and they work out at 2.5mm ish and the hole is 3.2mm so a fair bit of wobble enough for wheel knock and rub >:( >:(so i used m3 allen bolts with the heads milled down to suit 

not to sure with the boxes why they didnt fit well i lie they did but the holes are about 2mm out enough to create a problem
the stock ones shouldnt be a problem 

as they were the sprockets nearly hit the gear casings and the tracks would have worn on the wheels

some of the mounting holes are out of line, even for stock gearboxes, so I just fitted the gear boxes and noted which holes the screws went into properly took it all out including the mounting plate temporary re-fitted the boxes and drilled thought the holes in the mounting plate with an undersized drill and then drilled out the holes in the gearboxes to the proper size so that when assembled in the tank the screws that protrude through the mounting plate miss the torsion bars. this is the reason the holes don't line up the screws have to miss the torsion bars because there is naff all space under the mounting plate
