Available to ship?

Post by jackalope »

I got a question for you guys in regards to a site listing a part as "available to ship: within 1 to 2 days" would you take this to mean they have the part in stock or that it would be drop shipped from someplace else on the other side of the world? See to me that means they have the parts in stock at their location ready to ship within a day or 2, however a certain web site who remain nameless for now looks at it that the parts are in stock SOMEWHERE in the world for shipping within a day or 2.

Am I the only one who feels this way or am I just being silly? I know I'll get my parts but instead of the 3 to 4 days I expected now I'm looking at 2 to 3 weeks, but they shipped within 2 days! :/

Unfortunately I don't know of any other place to get the parts I want or I'd buy there instead as its annoying to have to wait 2 to 3 weeks when you think you'll have something within a week.

Jack Perhaps you are referring to an International Hobby Company Headquartered in the United States but with warehouses in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom amongst other countries,
Who when you sign on to the warehouse nearest to you and you put in your order,
Before you can blink you find that your warehouse is out of stock and you have been tricked into ordering from the Hong Kong or the USA warehouse complete with inflated delivery charges and a wait of two or three weeks before the product arrives.
And that is why I stopped buying from them even though they have one of the best product ranges I can find.
And like you I will not name them but it strikes me as underhand business practice and when you think that a lot of hobbyists are children on limited resources these people should be ashamed of themselves.
I see comments about www.welshdragonmodels.co often displaying that an item advertised by them is labelled as being out of stock but that is what an honest dealer should do and anyway if you talk to Steve he will go out of his way to expedite the order.
OOOhhh I get so angry :{ :{  shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Shaun, yup that's about it! Glad it's not just me! :haha: In stock to ship means you have the part there, you can go grab it, it's IN STOCK! Not that your warehouse in BFE China has it! That's not in stock that's in stock at your warehouse.

If anyone knows some place else I can buy the mini speakers from please let me know.

Good afternoon,
Gentlemen, this sort of thing happens a lot with Hobby Stores and Warehouses everywhere. It really burns when you are suddenly looking at 2 weeks instead of 3-4 days. Not to mention again, the extra outlay for said shipping at times. Sites that are honest about what they have to sell _right now_ should be noted and utilized a lot and the opposite sorts, noted and not. It's the best way to change a shoddy practice, make it extinct.

I occasionally order from a place like that....doesn't bother me after the first time....which I did have to inquire about...but was quickly answered back to...I don't think there is a shop anywhere that can keep stock of everything...so to me...so long they can validate and deliver it's all good

Now Shaun...I am one who says that about Welsh....some of their stuff has been out of stock since I've been a member here...to me that is totally ridiculous...if they don't have it ...don't list it...don't use a product as a lure...to me it's a bad practice...reason I never ordered from them

Gentlemen,
Before this goes wild on the ground, let me note that knowledge going in will lead to a better experience at any store, brick and mortar or online. Any store's merits can be touted or tossed, that all depends on an individual's experience buying there. The key is to understand that and make your shopping as hassle free as possible. I've said this before. If I have to have something, a part that I cannot make and it can only be found at a store that for whatever reason, ships it in from their warehouse overseas, I'll still buy it. It's the nature of The Hobby. Just maximize and build a network of trusted folks that you can count on to work out for you. I shop all over the world for parts and vehicles because ( see above ) ;o) It's all part of the fun of being a Hobbyist, sharing your love of something with like minded people.

Yup...so long a vendor is reliable that's what counts most...don't care where they get it from...so long it gets to me ...If someone lists it for years...as out of stock...and you have to constantly "ask"...to me that's just a waste of time ...reliable as they might be for the stuff they have...they still wasted my time...so bottom line...I just don't bother

ALPHA, Hi,my good friend If I may I should like to raise two points with reference to Welsh dragon,
First, At least you know the product is not available whereas too many dealers will take you for a long and frustrating ride and
Second, I often go to Welsh dragons site to see what is available on the wider market place without intending to buy if it is marked as out of stock.
At least I am able to check the specification of for instance TAIGEN Gearboxes in some detail which is rarely found in dealers who do have them in stock so that I can order with confidence knowing from the information I have already gleaned what is right rather than ending up with a product that is wrong,
I offer a for instance,
Some years ago I ordered a pair of Walterson's Brass Gearboxes from a reputable dealer for a TAIGEN Tiger 1 The advertisement failed to mention that the gearboxes would only fit in a HENG LONG Tiger 1. You can imagine how annoyed I was,
As you are fond of saying "Let Buyer Beware" shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Everyone has their methodology eh Shaun......I don't bother with Welsh already.... too many things they list ...I have later found are totally out of production...they do have a nice site..which does seem to be maintained...but they should just remove what they don't have or can't even get ...the gearboxes you mention...they had them..they were delivered...after the many years of experience you have...it should be common knowledge that Taigen's drive axles don't jive with Heng Long unless you ask the seller if they do or not...as Taigen does make gearboxes for both their models and Heng longs...I know of a very reliable seller that will tell you if you ask ;)

Wasn't saying Welshdragon I was referring to a place in Canada, that's as far as I'm willing to go in calling them out.

I wasn't trying to start any problems with any vendors from here, mods if this goes sideways please lock the thread.

Shaun the place in Florida has always been great to deal with even when they had their gearboxes screwed up and sent me the wrong ones they did their best to try to fix the problem and once I pointed it out to them they took EVERY gearbox down from their site till they got it all straightened out, to me THIS is what any decent store should do.
