Heng Long KV-1 metal track problem

Post by MichaelC »

Hi,

Just got a set of Heng Long KV metal tracks and noticed that it does not go over the accompanying metal sprockets smoothly. There is roughly three "bumps" for every rotation. I have had Heng Long metal KV-1 tracks before and never encountered this problem. Just curious to see if anyone else has seen this problem and if there are any easy fix.

I checked the track itself and it is bending smoothly. When I remove the sprocket from the chassis and just try to roll the track around it I get the same thing, three bumps per rotation. Tried the plastic sprockets and have the same problem so I am pretty sure it is with the faulty tracks.

I know some people have had the issues you describe but I think that was Taigen tracks. If the plastic ones are doing the same that rules out track issues. Are they henglong or taigen/asiatam sprockets? When my panther suffered this issue I found the gap between the two teeth was too narrow and had to file the inside of the teeth to get them running smooth.

It might be Taigen...... The plastic one is fine with the plastic sprocket so I am back on plastic right now. The metal sprockets came with the tracks so they would be the same made. I would consider filing except that it is only three section of the track, unless it is three section of the sprocket. I am going to try different combination and see if it is really the tracks but I am pretty sure it is.

I found my H/L metal Tiger tracks had these little bumps on the teeth that once I ground them off the tracks worked fine.
