The soldiers on the opposing side will not care whether the Tank can drive off the battlefield,
All they want is for it to be anywhere but where they are.
And if you field a dozen Tanks and they all retire from the field of combat with living crews but no turrets any enemy would see that as a victory,
It may not be a "Shot Trap" in the accepted sense but because it will be perceived as one by anti-tank gunners it must inevitably lead to more a/t being targeted at the same point, and any piece of mechanical equipment hit often enough and hard enough in the same place will fail, which would lead to losing the Turret, and as the Turret of a Tank is it's reason for existence it has to be considered a design failure. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

That's not the Armata. That's only an artist's conception of wot the Armata MBT looks like. As we have seen in the May Day 2015 parade, the Armata looks nothing like that. Of course, the Armata we saw at the parade will not look like the Armata that will be fielded. It's said that the turret of the Armata at the parade is the "naked" one without much armour. The design is that armour modules will be installed.

Like I said, that graphic is only an artist's conception that came out before the actual tank was shown. Discussions and sources I've seen do not say that is the "final upgrade." It is only a drawing based on several prototypes - from the Black Eagle based on the T-80, to the initial version of the T-72 Moderna.

This is Russia, I wouldn't worry. They'll be able to afford 10 of them and they'll spend all their time waiting for spares. Just look at what happened to the KA50 and Su27 and literally all Russian prestige military projects of the last 20 years.
