I'm into scale modelling for a long time and also competing in show such as Euromilitaire. I wanted to get my hands on larger scale RC tanks and planning to get one soon. Been lurking here for a while but I can't help looking at the brilliant RC tanks you and the rest of the chaps are doing.
I have to admit...I'm not as Hardcore into it as when I was in my youth....If it wasn't for the Girls Und Panzer Franchise ...I may not have gotten back into it again

...Back in the day...I used to compete as well....it got old after awhile...came too easy to win lol....but with all those victories entered politics...that's when I decided to stop...as it slowly drained the fun out of building...Now I build for me...not for anyone else...don't really care if my tanks are prototypical ...or realistic...so long what is taken in visually is pleasing...it's good enough lol ...I find it's more enjoyable that way
As for the gears, do you need to upgrade to steel? I'm seeing some seller in eBay saying that their version had steel gears and turret fully rotate to 360 degrees rather than a 320.
Going to tell you the same thing I tell all the people entering the Hobby...That would be..."Get what you can afford" ...because upgrades can come later
Steel gears are the best.....realistically though...I only have them in a small minority of my tanks....I won't just go and change them out for no reason...the gearbox has to break first....knock on wood...none of my white metal boxes have failed yet
If that seller is selling the same model as mine...and it's at a good "package" deal price...it's really something to think about ...because it would be the absolute top version released by HL...but from what I've been shown here on the board...many of the models in the same category as mine cost almost double of what I paid here in the US
It's definitely something for you to consider....because moving to 1/16th...is quite a big jump from 1/72nd scale...as you will find one model will probably absorb more material ie: paint ...plastic stock...metal stock....money

...........

....also some of your techniques will have to change....I can clearly see you have excellent skill...and attention to detail ...details will take more time than 1/72 ...and because things are larger...will require more attention
I feel you can handle it though...I detect your passion....If your scratch building is anywhere near ATC's or Giant's skills are...you will not only enjoy...but excel in the Hobby
Good Luck DNAR...Hope to watch one of your builds soon
