WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty tight fit there Painless...does she elevate?

Like the box the figure came in LOL....not much in the overkill department

Yes, there is room for the elevation to work. I had pulled the mechanism forward when I took the top down picture. There won't be any traverse unless I widen the gun port and put in a micro servo. *chuckles* Yes, that was quite a lot of packing. I kind of wish everyone was so careful when they shipped, especially from Germany.

I like all the hatches...mine are all molded in...which is OK with be...as I will probably build it into an Anzio tanks

A micro servo sounds good...though maybe you should have done it all with micro servos and gained more space

Just had an hour or so to give to the StuG tonight. I concentrated on getting the trunnion mount lined up through the gunport and the main body of the recoil and elevation unit mounted. The underside of the StuG casemate roof is not flat, being concave. I noted that the unit mount in the Panzer III turret had an extra piece that lifted the whole unit up 1/2 inch or so and I took that into consideration. After a little thought, I removed the 'legs' piece and used thick doublestick tape and glue to make a mount that would fit 'into' the casemate, not just flat against it. I used 5 strips in varying widths to build a stepped tape mount about 1/2 high. Using the trunnion mount on the elevation arm to give me distance from the gun port, I lined the whole thing up and glued it into place. It works. Now I have to modify the gun mount arm and attach it to the resin mantlet after I mount the trunnion to the casemate wall around the gunport. I know how, I just have to get the time and some small 'U' bolts to do so. Pictures:

Have you taken into account recoil at full elevation ?
Just thinking the whole lot is so tight there surely cant be enough room to tick all the boxes , can there?

UHHHHHHHHHH....I've heard tell...bicycle spokes can work....they can be bent and threaded

...fasteners are easily acquired...and easily adjusted for maintenance

Good morning. Thank you! There is more wiggle room than it appears in the casemate. The R&E unit is the one made for small turret Pz III and StuGs. Getting the unit in place and lined up was the hard part. There is a small metal arm that rotates and lifts and depresses the trunnion mount. As long as the arms are mounted even, it will work from any angle of elevation. The next step is to take the front of the trunnion apart and attach the arms to the mantlet. I will have to glue on a spacer then use a pin and glue system like I did with the heavy mantlet on the Pershing. I think that I will have to shorten the recoil arm as well up front so as to bring the mantlet closer to the gunport. It should look good and function well once done. On the real vehicle, there is a triangular armor piece that acts as a rain shield that sits above the gunport between it and the mantlet. I will make one of those to help disguise the extra spacing on the exterior mount. ;o)

Good morning. *chuckles* I was thinking about your bicycle spokes last night while mulling over possible ways to mount the trunnion. The trunnion arms are up against a flat surface on the inside of the casemate so I have several different ideas on how to proceed. ;o)
