Correct spec/ ohm for pot volume control?

Correct spec/ ohm for pot volume control?

Quick question..adding a volume control for FRS 8 8 ohm speaker..bought a 10k ohm pot.. but the adjustment from full volume to zero is just a few degrees of turn..what is the right specification to get a full turn adjustment? 5k ohm or higher? Thanks!

10k is correct, did you get linear type?
