Ed,
All you need is to take some pics of the views of your tank and print them out in B&W. Experiment with the patterning in pencil then when you have it as you want it, go buy a decent set of brushes of various widths. They should be soft in the center with stiff edges. Use enamel paints. Make sure that your base coat is fresh and clean then start painting the various sections, a colour at a time. You can achieve some satisfying hard line camo effects with patience and some more patience. ;o) Following along.

Not impossible but you will have brush strokes. It doesn't mean it has to look bad at all, if you wet sand with 2000 grit sand paper and weather you may not see too many of those strokes unless you really look for them.
Alpha, all I said was you'd have brush strokes but of course you CAN paint a tank with a brush.
