Panther G Antennas...

Hi, just a quick one, what does anyone suggest using to make antennas for a Panther? I saw on another website someone suggested a spring from a pen, I've been unsuccessful with that ahah
My other question is; I have used the supplied decal set that came with my Taigen Panther, but the decals are unrealistically shiny compared to the overall dullness of the tank hull, is there anything available to fix that and make them fit in a bit more?

I use the Aber antenna for all of my German tanks. A friend found these tiny springs that fit into the brass sleeve that comes with the Aber antenna kit. We glue them into the sleeve on the antenna and then into the antenna location on the right rear of the tank. When the turret traverses, the antenna lays down and then returns to it's normal position.

As far as the stickers that come with the Taigen tanks, I don't use them. I normally use decals from Tamiya. Are you sure you are removing the outer shiny film coat from the stickers?

Antenna? I usually use the stock antenna...I like the flexibility of them...for allied tanks I center the top with some jeweler's pliers....then put heat shrink over the spring....for axis models...it depends on the tank....the Panther...would just get the shaft without the spring...cut to length ..a hole drilled in the hull..attached with glue....I also usually cut the round bend at the top off...bend it over completely and smash it down...it isn't prototypical with that measure...but it's safer when your tank is handled

The Decals? Dullcoat them with whatever dullcoat you can get

If you have the old rx18 just move its antennas brass mount to correct location drill a hole and mount it there and use the original antenna but shorten it ( doesn't seem to have effected the radio range on any I've done) and it will fold over when the barrel hits it.
If you have the new rx 18 with the internal antenna the small spring that hold the flint on a bic lighter can be cut down. Then melt some plastic into the top of the spring and drill a hole in it to hold any thin round piece cut to antenna length glue it in the hole than glue the spring and antenna to the correct location. Using this method use the lightest weight material for the antenna ( stretched spue plastic works well) or the finished antenna will wobble around a bit when the tank moves.

The Aber aerials are good. As for decals, put them on before you age and weather the tanks. Filters and dust coats will dull them.
