HELP! Which tank to get?
Hi guys.
I need you help on deciding wich of these tank to get.
I allready have the Torro Stumtiger with metal lower hull and steel gearbox and metal Belts.
These are the choices:
1) Taigen metal stug 3 (i like a lot and it fits the SturmTiger as its sidekick)
http://www.rctank.de/24-GHz-METAL-EDITI ... 3-AIRBRUSH
2) taigen metal T34 (I like a lot as the Fearcest allied metal version enemy of the SturmTiger and because it has a turret in case of IR gaming wich is handy)
http://www.rctank.de/METALL-EDITION-TAI ... acks-etc_1
3) taigen metal Jagd Panther (Nice tank allthough I do not like the colour)
http://www.rctank.de/24-GHz-Jagdpanther ... l-gearboxe
4) taigen metal Panther G
http://www.rctank.de/24-GH4-Panther-G-m ... tle-system
The tank Will be driven outdoors in rough terrain
Also, should I choose BB or IR? Am I correctly, that a IR version could easily be converted into BB?
Please give me your pros and cons
Regards Bfrank

Re: HELP! Wich tank to get?
Greetings Bfrank....Going to be as frank as possible
...the way I look at it....out of the four you have in mind...I might choose the T34...it is Taigen's newest (aside from the M4 Sherman)...2nd would be The Stug....well...I heard they are no longer being made...you can still find them floating around...but the price has been juiced on them a tad because of that reason....The third would be the Jagdpanther...for the same reason as the Stug...paint can be changed and usually is once in hand ...the rest are readily avail...so might be good candidates for a "want" list
Though if you do ever consider the Panzer III...I might lean towards the Mato full metal version than the Taigen...It's more user friendly....and is chocked full of moving parts
...to which I will add that the Mato metal Stug is as well
Good Luck with your Quest

Ir versions are not easy to change to bb's so you must decide if you want gun barrel recoil and flash or just the whole hull jerk of the bb versions. The main gun barrels are different were they attach to the recoil or bb firing unit.
I'd go with the T34 or the Panther G Just because they have a turrets that rotate and in rough terrain being able to rotate the main gun out of the way of obstacles can be a real plus especially when going to the bottom or trying to climb out of a steep walled ditches.

I'd agree with the T34 as a primary choice

Re: HELP! Wich tank to get?
Hi Frank, if you want something that runs well out the box the Jagdpanther or Panther are your best bets! I would avoid the T-34 as the chassis has some issues that you would need to fix before running it on rough terrain. For example the idler wheel anchor points are on the plastic part of the chassis(not sure what Taigen were thinking?!?) which is a weak point, people have had issues with the idlers sagging. Also the suspension bolts to the plastic part so when you depress the suspension the plastic outer part of the hull bows away from the metal inner part of the hull.bfrank1982 wrote:Hi guys.

Both of these things can be improved but it's worth knowing before purchase.
Re: HELP! Wich tank to get?
Keep in mind...all tanks no matter what brand have problems...most have cures already...some are so new the cures haven't been sorted out...follow your desire..it's usually the decision that will make you happy

Re: HELP! Wich tank to get?
Hi guys.
The choice has been made:
I Will receive a Taigen metal IR T34/85 in a few days.
Bought it from Rctank.de - it is a reputable store and I have been assured that these should not be any major issues with the tank as of yet.
I Will keep you posten should anything occur.
Thank you for your advices

Re: HELP! Wich tank to get?
Hi gents.
Frist of all I should like to compliment RCtank.de for the speedy delivery. Three days from order to delivery in Denmark.
SO, I promised you my opinion on the Taigen T34-85
It is a Nice tank! A beefy lady with all the metal bits. Really impressed with the overall appearance and quality.
However, af few minor dissapointment, no disaster though.
1) the recoil is quite slow on the return of the barrel to it's primary position. Perhaps the recoil Unit is a bit out of sync? It sort of sticks midway. But I have Found out that keeping the trigger Down a little bit longer aftner the shot, it Will guide it back to position Ready to the next shot. No a major issue but still. I hope it is possible to upgrade the recoil, according to Dominique at RCtank.de the Taigen units are slower than HL
2) the suspension seems a bit more stiff compared to the torsion bars on my Sturm Tiger. I guess I Will just have to get used to it, it works fine and dandy.
3) the cables in this tank are Really short. Så when lifting the upper hull, it is hard to lean it without creating unnessesary tension on the cables and plugs. However, according to RCtank.de there Will be extension cables availible in short time. Yay!
4) the motors and servos for the Turret are quite noisy. You Will need to turn up the sound to hide it.
I took her outside for a spin, and the links in the chain are tightly fitted, wich Might Make ordinary sand and gravel Make the belt lock up. But Them Again I should just choose to run it somewhere Else.
All in all, Nice tank, highly recommend it.
NB, since it so highly detailed and comes with alt the bits and bobs, there are not Many upgrades and stowage to Add to it. So it Might turn out to be cheap in the long run?
And I also miss some russian figures to choose from, have not been able to find more than one or two.
