KV-1 metal upgrades

Thanks Painless. I actually managed to find your build thread, but I only have the stock suspension available at the moment, and as I'm still a noob at this, I think I will try and keep it simple for now
And I'm keeping it as a KV-1, as I really dont like the look of that big box on top of the KV-2

Alpha: I figured that out hehe. It rode way way too high. I then tried only adjusting the two in the rear, but then it was sagging in the front, so I ended up adjusting the first and last bar, which seems to do the trick for now.

It still rides a bit lower in one side though, so I might try Wyverns tip and twist the suspension bars, just a bit, to see if I cant get it to ride more even.
If that dont do the trick, I will look into purchasing some Tiger 1 suspension leafs and install them instead.

*chuckles* The KV-2 is an acquired taste, I will agree. Good luck with your suspension, it looks like an advanced model over mine in that it can be adjusted with the stock components. If you can't find the Tamiya leaf spring bag to try, adjust your back four and the front two and see if that will level it out. Following along.

LOL...OK...It's the curse of the Taigen Chassis...many models suffer from suspension drop ...the Panzer III is notorious for that...took me four hours over three days fiddling with the stock rods and arms....changing to the Flat bars made a little better in both operation and static stance

If you plan to stick with the rods for awhile though...the mod Painless did works great...if you check out his thread where there are more photos of His Crackerbox Palace...you will see the it sits nice and level

Hey Arnie is the first one your going to work on or are you doing a production line

Working a bit on and off, between this and my Pazner IV. But I need some longer screws for the idlers, before I can continue assembing my PzIV hull, so the KV got most of my attention right now. PzIV thread will be up later tonight, or tomorrow

Just an added note Arnie... if you feel the front tensioner for the Idler needs attention you might want to check out Guido's (of Hentec fame) upgrade thread...not saying you absolutely need to buy that system...as I designed a similar "simpler" unit for my Heng Long...which is basically a couple of brass tube stock crossing the inner hull from tensioner to tensioner....I did mine on the advise of another modeller...as he and some others have had problems with it...me?...never saw any adverse happenings in that area stock...but just did it for a little less headaches in the future

Guido does some outstanding work...the kits are definitely worth the price...But Honestly.. I have run my tanks on some brutal surfaces as well as have one fall twice from a six foot shelf...another twice from a three foot workstand and (knock on wood) haven't seen any distortion or flex ...it's the reason I just find my own solutions ...this stuff isn't rocket science...Wait till you try Scratch building or Kit bashing...that's when it becomes ...shall I say..more challenging

Had a friend visit today, so we took the KV for a test run. Except for the one side sagging, it runs pretty well
