New to the site.

Post by Model Builder 4 »

Hi Guys, i've just recently joined the site and a total newbie to rc tanks  , i'm waiting to take delivery of a HL sherman with a few metal upgrades, so i thought there's no better time to join up. I have been building 1/35 scale military model's and diorama's for about the last 6 years and have had rc cars on and off for years ( started off with the old Tamiya subaru kit ) but i'm currently running a kyosho 1/9 nitro car, weather and time permitting :( so between my interest in military models and rc vehicles,( a presto ) rc tanks the best of both worlds :D i enjoy the modelling side of the hobby so i'm hoping to be adding extra stowage and light weathering to the sherman just to make it a little more interesting, i have also been eyeing up a Taigen panzer Iv metal edition which i really like the look of especially the camo finish, it is from a german supplier, i would be grateful for any of your thoughts on this, such as any future problems with it being from the german market and any compatibility issue's i could have running it, so there you have it, a rather long introduction but i suppose i'll be asking a lot more questions further on down the line ;D ,

Cheers Lee.

Good Morning and welcome to the Forum! You have come upon one of the best sites for RC Tanking that there is. Take time to read through some of the Sherman builds both Tamiya and HL\Other in the Sub Sections here. Load of good information, tips and tricks there. German sites offer a lot of variety and lots of innovative updates to the stock tanks out there. Be prepared for extra tax and shipping amounts. Dominique at RCTanks.de is a very good source for HL\Taigen\Torro metal-ized Armor. Pictures of your tank(s) when you have the time as well, please.
regards,
Painless

Lee welcome to the Forum, Painless being a resident of the colonies (sorry old friend) knowing about taxes between the states is unaware of the wonders of trade between members of the European Union,
Have no fear Lee the only tax to which you would be liable is VAT and that will be included in any price quoted and of course postage, Dealing with European traders is no harder than dealing with home grown companies.
You should know that German dealers in particular use pretty much exclusively "PAY-PAL" for payment.
Right on your doorstep is http://www.welshdragonmodels.com and with out a doubt a star in our hobby is Dave at FORGEBEAR who can be found on E-BAY or at
theallertons@fsmail.net
You would do a lot worse than spending your hard earned with them.
I would urge you to refer to the BLACKLIST so that you know who to avoid.
enjoy this place, we do. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hey, don't worry, as long as the UK is in the EU buying stuff from Germany is no different from buying stuff from else where in the UK. I buy all my tank parts from http://www.axels-modellbau-shop.de/katalog/. DPD counts the UK and Germany in the same shipping zone so its cheap and you get the parts 2 days later.

Thanks jarndice, i should have realized that with us being part of the EU :/ , i've checked out the links you advised, top stuff i'll be sure to keep them in mind when i'm on the look out for things, cheers.

Hi ALPHA, thanks for the welcome.

cheers billpe, grateful for the link, i'll check them out, thankyou

Hi edpanzer, thats the one , i found it on another site though they do a professional version which is the one in your link but they also do a metal version which comes with even more extra's :D , i ordered this version yesterday ( man you get sucked into this hobby mighty quickly 8O ) think i'll be hiding the next couple of months credit card statement's from the other half, she'll go ballistic :shh: , so hopefully there will be a couple of tanks rumbling they way to me fairly soon, can't wait  , cheers Lee.
