3d doodler

Post by AlwynTurner »

Just spotted this and it looks soooo interesting.

As a non-engineering but arty type I thought I might give this a try as I'm more the get-stuck -in and just do-it type and really don't fancy spending hours with a cad design program and then further hours refining and printing the design. At £99 it's kind of within my christmas present budget and I fancy the ability to just throw something together.
Since then I've found this which is even cheaper!

Definitely in the just-buy-it range!

I got one a few months back (original version) and wasn't impressed. Guess needs a lot of practice to master.

Save your money Alwyn, they are little more than pens that scribble with melted plastic, and the filament costs a fortune. You could make your own by shoving pieces from plastic coathangers through a hot glue gun, a young lad has done that on You Tube.

You won't produce much at all with one, the examples that they show are very carefully made by witches with cauldrons and things.

Alwyn, if your at the August mad meet remind me a few days before and I'll bring mine along for you to try. Like rob said the videos are done by magic or needs a lot of practice!

Thanks Tankbear, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it as we are preparing for another europe trip and things are hectic, I would have liked a look at it though, it appeals to my arty side even if it's no good for modelling. It sounds like it's going to be a good meet too so I'm sad to miss it. Thanks Alwyn

Okay alwyn,

To be fair when I got it the Mrs thought it be great for her arty side but she never got time to use it.
