I have been wanting to get a Jagdpanther and finally have the funds together. But now comes the decision time.
I cannot really afford the $1000+ for a Tamiya, but want something that has a good amount of power for climbing hills and going through grass...etc.
First line I have looked at the Mato Mart package with the metal trans and metal sprocket/idler and tracks. I know the metal trans in those aren't the greatest cause that's what I have in my Pershing. So I would probably upgrade to the Red motor ones from HobbyRaw since I have heard good things, then possibly throw in a clark board for better sound and handling and be able to switch it to 2.4ghz.
Second line of thinking is a Taigen. They also have metal trans, sprocket/idler and tracks. But still the plastic hull and roadwheels. Of course the stock electronics are much better than a stock HL and already 2.4ghz. The trans they come with is better than the stock HL trans but from the sounds of it they wouldn't be near as good at the HobbyRaw red ones.
Are there other options I should consider? What are your thoughts about these lines of thinking?
Either way I plan to do my own paint job so the Taigen having better paint really isn't a big selling factor to me.
I have the cash in hand ready to spend, just don't have enough experience to know which route is a better one.

Buy the bits you want, build your own! That's what I've done with my King Tiger and the Tiger I'm currently building. No body offered what I wanted so I took bits from everyone and made my own.

Re: Opinions needed for a Jagdpanther
Does it have to be a JagdPanther?....You know Torro just released their new JagdTiger ...it's a beautiful tank...the best thing is everything is correct on it

https://www.torro-shop.de/en/rc-tank/rc ... er-bb-camo
it isn't cheap though...about double the cost of a Taigen Jagdpanther...and triple that of the Heng Long
ALPHA
PS..Lots and Lots of metal on the Torro

Is this the Taigen you are talking about ? It has the metal hull lined with plastic and torsion bar suspension out of the box......RMD Photography wrote:Second line of thinking is a Taigen.......

You can always fit metal bogies afterwards. Everything else in the lower chassis is already metal and I think this one has the upgraded "blue" motors which I think is the same as the Black ones out there. No quite the same as the red devil from Hobbyraw but pretty good in itself.

Its close if not a lil better. But I am in the US and have heard they have stupid long ship times to us so that's kinda deterred me.MichaelC wrote:Is this the Taigen you are talking about ? Just another 2cents....Keep in mind that there is a lingering rumor Taigen has discontinued the production of some of their full metal tanks...the Stug is one example...not sure about their JagdPanthers...but if you are in the US .. all that most US retailers list is the Plastic versions of the Taigen Assault tanks ...That link that Michael listed might be old...if you do plan on ordering from them...best to contact and check first
