Don't touch with a barge pole

Post by tankmad »

I bid and won this last month when I got it there was six right handed gear boxes and not one left hand there was about six bags of king tiger tracks all the same link meaning you couldn't even join two together as every second link on the kt is different. I returned it and he waited over a week then put a claim into ebay stating it was a job lot and I should have not retuned it even though I contacted him telling him I was going to return it and he said nothing. Here is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291515092644? ... 2032024145

I messaged him asking for a detailed list of parts before I bid, lets see if I get it.

JMHO...... :shifty: ..........He does say it is an "AS IS LOT"...he doesn't say anything about you being able to complete a model from it...to me it would be a Caveat Emptor Situation..BUYER BEWARE..or don't really by it unless you have a heck load of Tamiya tanks and parts yourself ;)

ALPHA

PS. Another idiom that might play into this as well is..."ANOTHER MAN'S TRASH IS ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE"

I didn't expect to complete a model from it but I didn't expect most of the parts to be useless when I paid just under £200 with postage and he didn't say sold as seen or no returns ebay came down on my favour and I got a refund.

Thing about making purchases on EBAY...everything is a risk....Unless you know the Seller as reliable....in this case he does seem responsible...as he did refund you...even if he had the items listed as "AS IS"...and provided a pretty good photo of what was in that lot
What I saw was a lot of "MULTIPLES"....a lot of common easy to find parts...so nothing really desirable ...So if anyone was to bid on it...there should be at least one part that sparks that desire before even considering a bid...Me....I would pass on it...don't care much if it's all Labeled "Tamiya"...as I can see most of it would be more for a Shop...or a Builder with a History with Tamiya

With that said...If I did have any interest...I would ask a lot of questions on this one...then evaluate what that Lot would be worth to me...after all that...not exceed what I plan to spend on it

I could elaborate with stories of the adventures I've had on EBAY...but for the most part I've filed them away in my "Lessons Learned" cabinet :D

Personally I think you should consider yourself Lucky as Heck...because a dispute with EBAY would probably have left you without a refund and you keeping the goods...that "AS IS" would have been the deciding Key to the situation

Good Luck in the Future TankMad

PS..You could call EBAY...I do a lot lol....I might be wrong...but as far as it was explained to me from that end...if the seller specifies "AS IS"...that's pretty much it

PFT! You gotta watch what you buy from people on here too! Bought a "custom tank" and got a pile of poop! Sure the upper hull may have look pretty good but the whole rest of it, JUNK! Also bought his parts he was selling and the only decent thing was the Taigen lower, the rest was garbage. If I didn't know better I would have thought he deliberetly ruined EVERY other part he sent me. Gun barrels cut in half, idler wheels snapped off of the lower, detail parts cut in half, hatches cut in half, everything he sent me was ruined!

Not gonna mention any name as I know that will just cause trouble and its just not worth it, Alpha knows who it is. ;) Alpha, keep quiet please!

Was that the one UPS broke?

If so that's pretty unfair on the seller, he did provide pictures and a full build thread on the tank in the sale ad.....

Another 2 cents of advice...Pay attention to the "DETAILS"...of what and how the item is presented...and how the item really
"IS" when it arrives :D ...Many a time truths by a seller are elaborated to make a deal sound better than it really is
