Regarding a video of the rocket firing I have'nt got one at the moment but if I get chance I'll try and do one more for the record but talking to other people I'm don't think I will persue this idea.
Any way did some more on the major detail work and here the pictures.

Well thats most of the chassis major detail done now just loads of minor stuff ,bucket full of bolt heads, tie down brackets, tools, and lights.
I suppopse the next seriours bit is the launcher detail work. I want as you can gaver a working model so some of the small detail thats get knock off is going to be forgotten.

She has had her first chase around the lawn now and battle with the cat and now't fell off so thats got to be a good sign.
I have a question though ?
On top of the launcher box there is two panels about 750mm square with what looks like a small ariel on each corner (in the middle of each launch pod area), or some sort of small cone shape object like an ariel base. I imagine they might be for the rocket telementary when using the Air burst pods. Does anyone know what they are or have a decent picture of them? please. I have tried google images and also what few contacts I have left in the business but nobody seems to know or have used this system for a while and can remember them.

Hi Denzil,

From what I can gather from my sources in regards to your quandary above, I have on good authority that the cone shaped objects are in fact warning lights for when the pods are been reloaded.

Similar to an aircraft warning recognition light upon startup, it illuminates and probably a siren goes off to warn people.

Hope that helps in a little way.

Hi Denzil,

Things with the little one are going well, she sleeps right through and is a little angel.
I will hope to get down to one of the meets after my Rehab this month as I'm looking forward to putting faces to names.

Your very welcome for the info. Just remember the light will need to be a static red on one side and a rotating Amber on the other.

Hope that helps if you are thinking of rigging this up.

Hi RobG and Merlin
Thanks for the comments and I'm glad things are going well for your club Rob and also happy that the Family and yourself are coming on nicely Liam
It would be good to meet sometime, as you said in order to put names to faces.
A date for your diary might be August Bank Holidy weekend, we are putting on a display at The Rauceby War Weekend over the 3 Days Dave and Julie of Forgebear Tanks will be there and we have a 10m x 8m display area to play in. I will have my caravan and awning there so if you want to play or drop in for a cuppa your are welcome.
Going back to the M270 the payload I'm looking at is the Army Tactical rocket loadout which is a single rocket per pod and scale wise that gives me a rocket of 42mm dia and 215mm long. Having gone off pyrotecnics after my last experiment. I'm now looking at a spring loaded system with a latch release but getting it to launch and fire about 10m is problomatic to say the least. the mechanism is relatively simple it just trying to minuturise it enough to fit in a very small space thats the problem. At the moment I'm building two dummy pods whilst I'll sort out the working unit.
Sometimes I really envy you lads with the skills to 3D model items untill it works and then to print it out as an working article is a skill I really envy and hats off to you   . Me I'm got a big hammer to hit any key to continue :haha: ohh and a big sketch pad and a large waste bin. ;D
ps. I have just found a few pictures of a M270 that has been reconfirgered as a Recovery vehicle with a large winch and 10t folding hyab crane on the back end 8) hmmmm posible next project

Hi Denzil,

Just a thought for your rockets, can you not use hollow rockets that fit over a pin with the spring mounted to, that way you would get spring depression without losing inner space at the base of the rocket and then mount a micro servo to release a latch or holding bar?

May work may not, just thinking outside of the box lol.
