Which King Tiger Gearbox

Post by Fluke »

I am in the process of building and all metal Torro King Tiger, I will be using an IBU2 Pro and am looking for a gearbox and motors. Can anyone recommend me a reliable set?

If you want the best - and you're going all metal, the tracks are very heavy...this is what i'd use

this one has bearings in all the gears, i put a set of these in my panther, they are plenty powerful. They are a bit pricey, but the next ones up (depending on what you consider "better") are the brass gear ones and I don't have experience with those. These, are trouble free and the bearings are very nice to have - it does make a significant difference. The KT is the long shaft, then Heng long part for the tank in its entirety is #3888 and that is what you would want to pick, the ones below ought to fit. (I also have a king tiger, make is heng long - almost identical to the one you are getting).

They do make the cheaper sets for $10 less, that one has the standard motors instead of the high torque blue powder coated case motors. I just put up the first link i saw with the bearing-fitted motors.
