T34 gearbox upgrade

Post by fv432 »

as promised here's a how to on the asiatam into T34/tiger conversion parts to but wsn metal upgrade gear set £9-£10 asiatam low profile boxes for the H/Long PZ3 a length of 5mm brass bar (for the new drive shaft) and a final gear for the H/long metal gearbox

take off all the wsn bits and put somewhere(Bin) ;D

next is to clean out the rear plastic protrusions so you have a flat clean base

remove the rear drive assemblies via the small screw (outside) and the nut and bolt in the top

then remove the brass bush holding the plastic gear on using a pair of pliers be careful not to use to much grunt you only want the bush off plus it needs to be in pretty good shape to hold the new metal one on

then i cut a piece of 3mm I.D. x 4mm o.d brass tube and used as a reinforcing rod to hold the gears and sprockets apart also adds some strength to this area  a channel was also dremelled out where the tube sits along the rear so the tube sits nice and flush

theres only 2 other conversions i have seen  chris grompixs T34 with i believe are tammy boxes in and perrys on Cough RCU who squeezed a set of h/long boxes in but had to make a bulge in the rear to accomodate them :o :o :o

this conversion if you havent got a spare set of metal h/long drive shafts will cost about £60

£43.50 for the low profiles £9 for the wsn upgrade gears and £10-£15 for a set of metal H/long gears

My T34 is already complete this one is for Dragon245 ;)for dragons im building a complete new floor out of ally so the tank wont flex anymore but SSHHH he doesnt now that yet ;) ;D ;D
