Andy from Gloucester uk [Pics up]

Post by Spartan tracks »

Hi all though I would say hello after being into Motorsport fast cars and fast bike and now a knackered spine after so many spinal ops it's time to slow down! I have allways been keen on tanks from a little boy, then also through my time in the forces ,so Rc Tanks seemed the way to go I've done a little bit of research and have decided to collect Torro brand so mostly metal so when I've got a nice little collection I will then start to make them look and drive a little more realistic, hopefully I'll have my first tank before the months out,I'm also lucky enough if people want to have a meet and bring tanks along and have a play and a pint on the Oxford and Gloucester border in the near future.PS any additional advice is always welcome regards Andy

Andy Welcome to the Forum, A true metal tank is very expensive and not commonly found, both TAIGEN and TORRO make a Metal lined plastic hull with a plastic body beside the cheaper all plastic hulls they use alongside HENG LONG,
Taigen is more common in the UK than Torro and I have never been able to tell the difference between them and I own at least one of each!!! And its Tiger 1 hull is often married by Tank builders to a Heng Long body and topped by a Taigen metal Turret, 8|
If you are going to start with a complete Tank rather than build yourself a composite with a "metal hull" you might consider a Taigen Tiger 1 which is available in two basic versions I/r or airsoft, you will also get the choice of plastic or metal tracks and some other details.
In Kidlington is Howes a model store which sells HENG LONG Tanks, they also sell on E-BAY.
I would urge you to first go to our BLACKLIST before spending any money and then go to our RECOMMENDED dealers who will treat you fairly,
If you have any questions please do ask, answering questions is what we do best and sometimes accurately! :haha: shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

G'day Mr Spartan, good to have whats left of you along !!!
Regardless of what you start with, the final result will be very distant from where you began. Its, well, you know ;)
The only limit to the end result is your imagination & ability to pay for it :problem: but from a motorsport background you would already understand that I bet :eh:
Please take the time to peruse the halls of historic builds in your respective area of interest as there are loads of ideas, techniques and balls ups to draw from.
Hook in- go your hardest, we all like to see pictures of anothers toil

I recently sold what I am thinking may have been my last bike after a lifetime riding them, had a blast for decades, but there we go.

Glad to see you getting into tanks, I took up the hobby years ago, and really enjoy it all. If you fancy a trip down to Temple Combe on 12th July the Bristol Armoured Division meet there. Details are on the clubs page or in my signature below.

Cheers

Before you do that, perhaps a quick check on what you have done? First, You must switch on the transmitter first then switch on the Tank, The batteries in the Transmitter, please double check they are in correctly and are in proper contact and how much charge have you put in the Tank battery? : When you switched on the tank the Headlights should have started flashing, but did they? shaun
