That was removed just when the Lates came in.

Tools are moved.

Moved where

The long crowbar that used to be on the left hull roof, beside the turret, was moved to run sideways across the roof, just behind the front hatches. The axe that used to be there, was put in front of the radio operator's hatch.

The racks for the cleaning rod segments (3 segments each, to the right and left of the turret) were moved slightly toward the rear to avoid bumping the new turret ring.

So my understanding on the late tiger 1 David is the rear storage box was removed and the addition of jerry can brackets one above the jack for water

The small toolbox, on the rear hull wall at the left, was discontinued in the "Mid" period, so it was certainly gone when the "Late" Tigers came along. The hull upper rear wall was bare on both sides of a "Late", except for the jack. Some crews took the opportunity to add their own storage there, for jerrycans.

tomhugill I noticed you have the barrel lock 1944 .

The folding barrel lock was provided for only a few months, then the manufacturers got some sense into their heads and provided a much cheaper wooden block instead. Some of the first steel-wheel Tigers did have this barrel lock, up till February 1944.

I am trying to find the pic but there is a small box on the left side next to the main storage bin on the turret does any one know what that is ?

You never have enough storage room on a tank, and many Tiger crews added boxes to the rear of their turrets. Or fire extinguishers.

Here is 101 Normandy 1944 the storage box on the front I am getting a little confused

Mines either a January or a February 44 tiger, so steel wheels, travel lock but no armour turret ring or thicker turret roof. In short, the lazy mans late tiger when converting from the hobby boss mid tiger kit

Looking great Kaiser ! Here's a pic of my rear stowage for jerry cans.....not perfect but I'm fairly happy with them for now. Also the hull reinforcement I've done has made the hull solid with no flexing at all. The front one also slips between the gearboxes. So will be running today thanks to you . Excuse the grey mud guards....there's a bit of painting to do round the back yet
