It also has an IR unit.

So, is the IR unit Tamiya compatible, and apart from changing the final drive shaft to allow the HL box to run the Torro metal gears, can this be developed into a reliable tank?

I have taken a look at Wackywheelz work, and someone on the 'forum that shall not be mentioned' has done the gearbox conversion..but has anyone in Blighty done it?

Cheers

hey,

sorry to say its not compatible with tamiya, and the electronics are very childish so the most common thing people first do when they get them is replace the hl electronics!

i myself if i did get one probably wouldnt bother replacing the gearboxes, but if your looking for somebody in blightly who has contact Rob (fv432)

ive seen his first person and he has done an absourlootly brilliant job of replacing the gears and fitting hl electronics!

cheers,

Grompix has also done a conversion using Tamiya electronics. I am in the process of putting in RX18 board and still deciding which HL gearbox will go in, but I should know after tonights Washington Model Club meet (that's if the snow stops and Chris can get through)

Hi,

The metal gearboxes for the Walker Bulldog will fit the T34 but you need to shave about 1/16 inch off the top of the gearbox frames.
You also need a couple of the gears from the gear replacement set for the final drive. (I got mine from Tanktoko)

I also put the Tamiya electronics in at the same time.

It works well, is not too fast and has plenty of power. Only trouble is, it sounds suspiciously like a King Tiger!

Now I am confused...could you tell me what the metal gears from the gear replacement set are? I have taken a look at the TankToko site but my Dutch isn't up to much! lol

Did the Bulldog gearboxes drop straight in...and was your source a WSN T-34?

Thanks!

Modellino has a set of swing arms for the T34 on Ebay this week:

On a slightly different note did anyone see a news report from Poland?

The authorities there have arrested some guys for nicking four WWII era Russian tanks from an old disused army camp.

Apparently they intended to sell them on the internet for about £11,500 each! Imagine turning up to the next meet with one of those......... and they're cheaper than Tankzone too!

Apparently WW2 tanks are big business now. Two german guys were recently arrested for smuggling out (don't ask how!) a Panther. The Bulgarians buried a stack of tanks along their border during the cold war and people have been digging them up and selling the parts. Bear in mind that a Panther is now worth £4.5 million and you can see why they do it!
