Tiger 1 axles.

I am sure I am not the only member of the Forum who is fed up with the Axles on a TAIGEN/HENG LONG Tiger 1 pulling free simply because the retaining GRUB SCREW has nothing to bite into,
Does anyone offer an engineering service that will drill a 2mm deep x M3 wide hole in my axles?
Who knows I might even be prepared to offer money
I have the drill, I have the correct size bits, I even have the ability, what I do not have is the interest.
I intend to buy 8mm long m3 grub screws if I ever do get the axles drilled. shaun

I can honestly say that I've never lost a wheel to a grub screw coming loose.

Ohhhhhhh...... maybe that's cause I put a dot of blue lock tite on each one before I put them in. Try that and see if it doesn't fix your problem.

Jack, I honestly have done that already. Perhaps your only running your Tigers on the carpet Or what is probably more likely is my incompetence this is really a case of belt and braces. shaun

I can honestly say that my King Tiger does not just run on carpet.

Make sure I'm clear here, you're referring to the Taigen or in my case Torro metal upgraded lower hull and the axles that hold the road wheels onto the metal suspension arms correct? Have you tried green or red lock tite?

Yes Jack, the axles with a shoulder that butts up against the axle carrier and finishes flush on the other side, The problem as I see it is that the point where the Grub screw touches the axle is polished steel so that even though I do use Threadlock, it only stops the grub screw from working loose, but as the Tank drives, the axle turns, I know it should not and that the wheel is supposed to spin on the axle but wear and tear and Torque all combine to let the axle turn in the axle carrier, hence my suggestion. Perhaps I should mention that I have some axles that came predrilled? And that is what prompted my chain of thought.shaun

File or grind a small flat on the spot where the screw contacts. That will stop it.

Ok, try this. You own a Dremmel tool I hope, if not go buy one. Take a screw out, put a dot of white paint on the tip of the screw that contacts the axle, put the axle in and tighten the screw till in contacts the axle. You now have a mark where you can use a cut off wheel in your Dremmel tool to make a small notch. Put the notched axle back in, a dot of blue lock tite on the grub screw and tighten it up. The cut notch should line up with the screw and when you tighten the screw it will go in past where the axles side would be and that should lock it in and keep the axle from spinning.

Herman I had almost given up hope,
I suppose now Winters here it's time to pack away the Barbi and the Bathers and get back to those Poms and Yanks via the Keyboard. Thanks to you, and Jack and Simon for the helpful advice but as I mentioned earlier I have the Tools and the skills just not the interest to Drill/Grind/File 28 axles plus 4 stub axles in the Rollers which is why I was looking for someone else to do it. shaun
