Is there any modification required to the motor mounting area when you change motors. I would think that the can size would be the same so as to still fit into the tank.

Just the length jtracks 480 are 48 mm long , 400 40mm etc .

Rx18 boards where a issue not sure about the new ones but chucking a cooling fan on them fixes it.

I've got to admit I run motors in but never in water, although I have heard of the techinique.

I don't know about brushed by brushless motors will run all day in water. Gotta be careful with WD40 though, it won't only displace water but also any grease in bearings.
