Looks like approximately an extra £3-4 to the ibu2 shipping costs.

Is there any modification required to the motor mounting area when you change motors. I would think that the can size would be the same so as to still fit into the tank.

Nope same size just have to remove pinion gear .
Tankbear has done a lot on this subject over the years 400s and 480s can motors .

Just the length jtracks 480 are 48 mm long , 400 40mm etc .

Here is a pic of what these guys have done grunting there tanks jtracks

Rx18 boards where a issue not sure about the new ones but chucking a cooling fan on them fixes it.
If your tank is a great big brick it helps .

What gear boxes are those?

Mato 3:1 gearboxes jtracks with 480 can motors mine I'm chucking on Taigen metal boxes .

I've got to admit I run motors in but never in water, although I have heard of the techinique.

Surprised how much muck has come out of those motors.

I don't know about brushed by brushless motors will run all day in water. Gotta be careful with WD40 though, it won't only displace water but also any grease in bearings.
