Torro T34 help......
I just wonder if anyone can help me out here………
I have a 2nd hand Torro T34 27htz tank, which I would like to convert to run the IBU2 pro board (not purchased yet). Now, not a good start but I’m struggling to open the hull up for a look-see at the challenge ahead.
I’ve found 3 screws, 2 at the front underside, and 1 on the rear deck between the vents, however the top hull is still solid with no movement at all, I’m sure I’m missing something here……….any ideas guys.
I would also be delighted if anyone can point me in the right direction with bullet proof instruction on what is required for the electrical conversion please.
As always, many thanks for reading and, hope somebody can help me out………

Re: Torro T34 help......
I've done this conversion myself, bit hard to describe the wiring alterations plus I didn't keep any pictures
I check tomorrow on the screws, think six underneath and one on top where the engine grill is.

Re: Torro T34 help......
On the HL there are 6 obvious screws in the lower hull (sunk in) and two towards the rear that are hidden by the tracks. My upper was also stuck on with paint, so even after finding all the screws it didn't come off easily.

Many thanks Rob, hope I can get to the bottom of this.......

Re: Torro T34 help......
Well finally managed to crack the deck from the hull. there are 2 screws in the middle.......so obvious when you see then, guess I couldn't see them for looking. So, thats problem 1 sorted out just need to make sense of the mass of wiring inside now.
The depth of my knowledge for the "black art" of electrical stuff has been to swop over from HL to Clark TK22 on my tiger1 not really that challenging but this is a different story. I will take some images of the internals tomorrow and post here, maybe someone will be able to shed some light on what is required. If there is any interest I'll happily post pictorial progress of this daunting task.
Thanks for reading and the replies, hopefully with you help we will get there in the end.

Re: Torro T34 help......
Gary,
I have done that couple of times...... You will be able to re-use the motors and the wiring, as well as the rotation and elevation. However, the turret cabling is a dog's breakfast so you will have to separately everything out and then put in the proper connector ends. The recoil is a different beast. I don't think you can easy transfer the recoil mechanism over and might be better off doing a servo recoil using the existing frames like this:

Dam to late I took a picture of mine to show you but you worked it out.emmasdad wrote:Well finally managed to crack the deck from the hull. there are 2 screws in the middle.......so obvious when you see then, guess I couldn't see them for looking. Like Michael says can use all the motors and LEDs so it's a case of following the wiring back and putting correct plug on the end.
There's a lot of wires in the turret which is easier to remove than try figure out.
Power wise the WSN has a 3 pin plug so need to loose a wire. Also the battery box is for 9.6v not 7.2v so need to modify or cut box out.

Re: Torro T34 help......
Michael, many thanks for the helpful reply, much appreciated fella.
Don't suppose you have any images of the converted internals on your T34?? I like the servo recoil idea a nice neat job. I did the same on my tiger1 but it is a bit rough and ready, hey ho it works.

Re: Torro T34 help......
Many thanks Ian, sorry to have waisted your time. You mention loosing a wire from the Torro power plug, any idea which one off hand.
Been a bit busy today, gonna start the strip down tomorrow evening. Also ordered the IBU2 Pro package, looking forward to receiving that and having a muck about.......thanks to Tankbear.
