panther won't roar

Post by trackpin »

Hi guys ,been busy lately researching t34s in German service, got to be a build somewhere on the books soon.Just bought a Panther G on fleabay, nice tank, and well weathered.Put new batteries in and fired it up.First problem was no start up sound and intermittent running, the motors would start/stop.I swapped the crystals for new one's and everything worked except the sound,so I swapped the speaker for a known working unit, still no good. The next alternative is to try a new board, but has anybody got any ideas before I order one,Regards trackpin.

Check for a wire loose from the volume knob.

Hi trackpin have you tried a different transmitter - if the transmitter came with the tank maybe it's faulty? Alwyn

Trackpin,
Good job on the electronics repair. Electronics are some of the most daunting things on an RC tank to figure out at times.

You can eliminate the volume control altogether and have it running at full volume, with slightly better quality sound. It works on any board that has a three pin socket for the volume control.

Cut the wires off, twist the outer two together, solder them. Insulate them so they don't touch anything. Job done. Thats the HL plugs, others may differ, but you just try pairs of wires until you get the sound.

The HL volume control isn't exactly high quality, so if you are installing aftermarket boards and don't want to buy a new potentiometer, this trick will do the job.
