RX14 cards

Post by mickyb »

Hi,

I have just bought a PZ4 and had a few problems with it....now all solved... but I thought I had a dodgy RX14 card in the tank......

I noticed that Tankzone only sell RX13 and RX18 cards so I e-mailed Kin at Tankzone to find out why no RX14's

He tells me that HL were going over to RX18's anyway, and the reason no RX14's  was that HL had problems with the RX14 plug connector on the card itself.

This maybe a problem if anyone wants to fit aftermarket Turrets such as Creeping death.  CD say their turret won't work with RX18  cos it has different output specific to battle systems. CD turrets work fine with RX13, RX14 and El-mod so I am informed. I am about to find out cos I have a CD turret. RX14 and El-mod in the Tiger......watch this space.

Does anyone know different about the RX14 availability.........Mike

hi mike
you can still get them, on ebay is a good bet, nigel my mate got one from ebay, i think it was forgebear he got it from, but i will ask him where he got it, i'll let you know, from what i can see on his board and a rx13, the only difference is the '14 has fets instead of transistors,

CD stands for "creeping death" its an american company that modifies turrets and the like, thier turret has a recoil and the bb gun in them, and the bb gun gets made much more powerfull. i hope this helps

The RX14 is widely available, I have bought one. Just ask Forgebear or Military Might, they will be able to get you one. In terms of power handling the RX14 will cope with a lot more amps than the 13, so won't blow very easily. I use them on  The 18 is a slight improvement on the 14, and comes in a neat housing with plug connectors. I seem to recall that Darkith did an analysis of all three boards, which is on the 'site that shall not be named' somewhere.

Cheers

Looking at Darkith's webpage, the RX-14 and the -18 should be interchangeable for anyone not trying to use HL's IR system.  It seems that the -18 has all of the same functions as the -13/-14 with the added feature of HL's IR battle system.  There's even the standard turret plug.  I don't see why the CD turrets won't work with the -18 if they worked with the -14.
