What battery to replace stock 2000mah battery?

Post by FirsthandSnow »

Hey All! Only today did I pick up my first tank, a Taigen PzKpfW Panther Ausf G :D it come with a 2000mah battery, which I know myself won't give me very long run times :(
I won't be buying a battery just yet, having spent a pretty penny on the tank already, the battery is something for payday at the end of the month! Haha Just wondering what capacity you guys would suggest? I was thinking maybe a HPI Plazma 4300mah for a little over £20 :)
You know best, so any suggestions are appreciated and sorry for being a typical newbie haha

Thanks guys :)

Good Morning,
I saw your other thread so let me say: "Welcome to the Forum" With heavier tanks with metal bits on, you would do well to use a 3000Mah at least and a 5000Mah for optimum run times. People will say: "Use Lipos!" Properly set up, a Lipo battery is better than a Lithium battery for quick charges and run times but you have to have a board or a chip that will do a low voltage alarm and you must be super careful charging them. I remember Alpha saying that he charged his in an iron frying pan on the stove. Good luck in whatever direction that you go and definitely, enjoy that Panther G!
regards,
Painless

Ah! Thanks for the help! :) I'll likely stick to the Lithium batteries, especially since I'm new to all this hah Might go for the HPI Plazma 4700mah after listening to your advice, unless there are brands more specific to the RC Tank hobby? Thanks again :D

Hey Painless, wonder if you can shed a little light on this thread of mine? viewtopic.php?f=195&t=15042
Mainly the last few comments, about which screws to remove to separate the top hull from the lower?
Thanks :)

Hello and welcome!

I just swapped out to a LIPO battery for my 20 pound King Tiger and even after run times of over an hour the battery STILL hasn't run dead! I was skeptical about LIPO batteries but after trying them for about a week now I must say THEY are well worth it!

I went with what I could get locally which meant a 4300mah lipo battery and charger both made by Traxxas and I know I spent more then I would have getting stuff off line but man this set up works great! No balance plug, no small plug at all its built into the main plug which makes things much simpler. I love mine.
