Panzer IV Ausf F1 to H Build
Re: Panzer IV Ausf F1 to H Build
Thanks for the measurements.
Looking good. Looks like you're working with the stock HL suspension. Strmd has a good post for mods to the Taigen/Asiatam suspension. But, I haven't seen one for the HL suspension. Hopefully, you're idea of a second spring works.

Jeez, its getting close now.
Once the first coat of 'Gelb' goes on its getting there in a hurry !
I have not searched for a post, but from memory Mr Alpha posted about the spring issues on HL IV's a while back.
Could be worth a more dedicated search ?
Will be a refreshing build with so few IV's getting the limelight recently

Got it pulled up as a reference because I'm very close to that part.

Ahh, yip, thats the one. Let us know how it goes Mr Phil, I'm sure Mr Alpha (where ever he is) would also be keen to verify results.philipat wrote:Yep...this one:

Re: Panzer IV Ausf F1 to H Build
Hi guys, thanks for the kind words, also the thread about the springs.
Having had a closer look, mine has Heng Long metal suspension, which is different to Taigen/Asiatam, not having the spring in the middle. A quick play by adding a second spring has confirmed the bogies work properly with the extra leaf, so will either have to obtain some spring steel from an old recoil start or a donor P4 hull to get the extra springs.
Unfortunately not much work done since the last post so no pics, just starting on the brass schurzen hangers
Got my taigen T34 in bits, modding the suspension system (will post some pics in another thread).

You can never have too many tanks......

Re: Panzer IV Ausf F1 to H Build
Cool...do you need any schurzen plans? I might have a couple, if you do.
Re: Panzer IV Ausf F1 to H Build
Hi Philipat, sorry for long delay in reply, I have some plans for the Schurzen, have started on the brass hangers:

Will put on some better photos tomorrow

Looking good.
Looks like you might have the same hull flex that I have. My upper hull seems to flex upward in the front creating a gap between the lower and upper hull...like yours in the photo. Think I'm going to have to fix it with magnets.
