A few things about this tank
It's not 1/6th scale, it's close to 1/11th scale, a 1/6 scale would be 162 cm long x 61cm wide for starters vs 83 x 30 quoted
It probably has crap and non-standard motors, gearboxes and road wheels/suspension and at that size it would be very difficult to get anything to replace them with
It' looks as though it might have proper type tracks but there's nothing available at that size on after market (and probably no spares available)
You'd have to replace all the electronics probably with IBU2
The modelling of the tank is crap - the M1 has never had a barrel on the back or rockets on the roof and the finish is awful looking in the pics
and most importantly what happens when it arrives and doesn't work?

It's a kids toy with appropriate life expectancy. I wouldn't touch it unless someone was selling a spares/repair for £20 and then I might consider it as a challenge. :wtf: :lolno: Alwyn

Might be able to help here.

Its crap, calling it a toy isnt even fair. I bought three smashed ones of ebay for a project. Managed to salvage enough parts to make one rolling chassis.

1) The top, like the worst cheap pound shop toy you ever saw
2) The plastic. utterly brittle
3) Suspension. It has it, but mainly from the way the body flexes and the arms sag
4) Electrics. Sweat shop special. We are not talking RX 18 here!
5) Tracks. Two part rubber band
6) Gears. Ultra slow.

Heres mine on the bench . Will be upgraded to RX 18, not sure about the gear boxes and tracks, for this project that may suffice. It is big though but certainly NOT 1/6 or an M1!

Hi Rocketman, is that what you are going to use for your laser cannon? It certainly looks big enough. At that size the model will be a beast - look forward to the pics.  Alwyn

When I lived in Hong Kong, about 8 years ago, I bought this exact tank from one of the night markets - cost me approx. £20. Lasted all of 2 hours, 1st time the motors stalled it stripped the gearbox. Very cheap and cheerful, certainly not 1/6th and at that price 10 times higher than I paid for one!!
Axis -H/L Panzer III, H/L Panzer IV, H/L Stug III, H/L Stug III (Schurzen), H/L Panther, H/L Tiger 1(early and late) and a H/L King Tiger(Porsche)
Allies - WSN T-34/85, H/L KV-1, H/L Sherman and a scratch Cromwell(in progress)
(all 1/16th scale)

Hi I brought 3 of these of fleabay for £50 all just needed the soldering fixing. As has been said it works out at 1/11 scale but if you junk the inards and rebuild with KT tracks and steel gearboxes and with a bit of work on the exteria and a new paint job you can build a not bad representation of a M1 I, did one of mine about 2 years ago (still got the other 2 in the garage) and so far she has not let me down and will go just about anywhere you could ask it to.

Hi Alwyn

Nope this ones for a model of the Battletank from an 80's Gerry Anderson Series called Terrahawks.

On this summers to do list , waiting for good weather to get in the workshop as its so damned big it never comes in the house!
