My local Modelzone was selling the WSN T34 for £69.99 in the run up to Christmas. They're still advertising them for this amount but didnt have any boxed ones when i last popped in.

Re: soviet tank
On this subject I have been looking at the Torro T34. It looks like the weak point is the transmission and electrics. This means converting it to HL metal gearboxes and metal tracks.
It also has an IR unit.
So, is the IR unit Tamiya compatible, and apart from changing the final drive shaft to allow the HL box to run the Torro metal gears, can this be developed into a reliable tank?
I have taken a look at Wackywheelz work, and someone on the 'forum that shall not be mentioned' has done the gearbox conversion..but has anyone in Blighty done it?
Cheers

Re: soviet tank
It isn't Tam compatible.
Once upgraded the T-34 can made a very good tank. (I'm working on my WSN T-34 at the moment). The only problem is a lack of metal suspension parts so I'm going to have to do something to strengthen the plastic ones.
The real T-34 was a good design and so is the 1/16 version, simple but very effective.

Re: soviet tank
I thought somebody here (Rob?) converted his T34 to asiatam low profile gearboxes a while back?
All I've done to mine so far is fit HL control boards and DBC's. Metal tracks would be nice but I'm not sure how well the rest of the tank will hold up.
Rob (and others) has tried the metal replacement gears, but wasn't overly impressed with them.

Re: soviet tank
You have to change the entire gear boxes. Changing just the metalgears means that the plastic gear housing wears out and the gears start skipping. My mate gave me his T-34 because the gears were skipping, when I opened it up the gear shafts had worn ovals in the housing so they kept popping out

Re: soviet tank
Do you think there'd be any way of fitting brass bushings to fix that? I've never taken apart the gearbox to have a look, but I do know a machinist who could maybe turn down some bearings for me...
