You could always cut the Tamiya plug off your battery and solder on what ever plug you want. I ditched the junk Tamiya plugs in favor of the Traxxas style plugs.

Its a possibility jack never tried soldering before but how hard can it be? I'm not terrifically confident with electrics though.

Just be sure to use flux it helps the solder to flow freely.

Just use rosin core solder and all you need to do is heat it up, melt and go.
