Has anyone built a su76?

Post by Busymodeler »

I was wondering if any of you know of a 1/16 su76 build out there? Not the su76i, but the open compartment version. Even if you know of any kits or bits to help a build. I have plans to try and build one and have started with all the dimensions, plans and photos but looking at a good start.
Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Busymodeller, found this - hope it's useful

You could maybe start with a panzer III chassis if you can find one they look similar?

Good luck with the build and please post pics?

Cheers Alwyn

Pretty sure I've seen someone selling an SU76 casemate in resin. Will have a look and see if I can find it again.

Thanks guys, I will make one anyway. I'm in planning stages. First I'll make a cardboard template from my plans and cut sheet plastic from there. That's my thinking so far. BIllpe if you find anything I'd appreciate it. My net searches haven't found anything yet.

Pretty sure there's a conversion kit for the SU76i, maybe that's where you saw it?

Found this but it doesn't look like the real deal - looks to be the su76i which I think is a different animal to what you're looking to build.

Yes, that's the su76i. I think that one is the easier conversion because the crew area is all closed. I like the earlier version myself. The crews may not have been happy with the open arrangement though.
