Hello!

Post by mike1268 »

Hi,

I'm looking at getting a Tamiya Panzer IV. I know nothing about the build quality. Are they any good comapred to the other Tamiya tanks?

Also is the battle system any good? No point in getting the battle system without anyone to battle, anyone from the nottingham/lincoln area?

Hi Mike welcome to the forum, sorry don't know the tank but I'm sure someone will reply shortly. Good luck with your first tank (probably of many!) and happy tanking. Alwyn

Hi Mike, if you are looking for a panzer IV there is this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HENG-LONG-PAN ... 25a1dd764f
then you could fit it with an IBU2 controller and 6 channel 2.4mhz tx/rx from tankbear on this forum - I think he has a special going at the moment for about £130 but pm him to find out. that would give you an excellent running start into the hobby without costing sundry parts of your anatomy (you will find this hobby empties not only your wallet, but also your bank account)! :D  Alwyn

Hey. It's usually a good bet with a Tamiya and the Panzer IV is a pretty solid runner. The only thing against it is it lacks after market parts (this really applies to all Panzer IV models) should you want to super detail it during your build.

The battle system is considered to be the standard system, so any tank you buy and want to join a club with needs to be using the Tamiya system. You can fit it to other makes of tanks by using off the shelf electronics packages however but it's plug and play on the Tamiya tank itself.

Hi Mike, for IBU2 it's worth talking to the expert - pm tankbear and I'm sure he would happily give you the pros/cons. Regards Alwyn

G'day Mr Mike
The condition known as "Tank hobby Poverty" is only really a study in relativity when compared to "Kids-Married With" as an exponential yet somehow constant distribution of reduced subsistence level survival. :shifty:

Be real happy to see your tanks in full blown colour- or for added realism- black & white grainy pictures as you go.

You arent kidding. I'm looking at the IBU2, upgraded tracks and drive sprockets. Metal gear box, upgraded recoil and scale gun. Even seen a metal hull but not sure thats worth upgrading? Can feel the cash flowing away now.... lol
