Tamiya Speaker Question

Post by FireflyKeith »

Has anybody ever taken a Tamiya speaker out of its huge housing and fitted it into a smaller housing, its just that im looking to find a bit more space inside the Sherman and the speaker takes up about 1/3 of the space inside the tank, obviously i want to keep the volume and sound of the speaker but not the size Image

I have fitted a pair of laptop speakers (internal ones- not ones that plug into a laptop) to the underside of my Sherman's hull at the vents at the back. These speakers measure about 3/4" by 1 1/4". They are a bit quiet, but that is running a HL RX18 board, not a Tamiya. They take virtually no room. You could probably find these speakers on eBay, look under Dell laptops (as an example- it's what I yanked them from). I did have to run two in series to get the proper impedence though....

Tamiya 1st gen Sherman, Tamiya King Tiger (in box), HL Pershing (metallized & weathered), HL Tiger I (in progress, plastic), HL Panzer IV (metal gears & arms, plastic track), HL Panther (donor tank, to be radically modified)
Sanity optional....

Not recommended. Tamiya Audio is carefully designed to sound good. The reason why the Sherman speaker box is so big is because it has to have that "volume of space" in order for it to sound that good. Leave it alone, there's lots of space inside the Sherman to put things in.
