I give up then. Identical RX-18's, should be putting out the same voltage.

Most of the problems when connecting a smoke unit to a control board are due to the fact that the switching transistor of those boards can't handle the full power required to supply the heater element and the pumping system of the unit together...

That transistor is often acting like a resistor in serial in the system and lowers the voltage to the smoke unit thus reducing the smoke output...

The solution is to connect the heater element directly to the power switch and let the board handle the pumping system ( fan, piston, or both).

This mod. might be easy or hard to do depending of the design of smoke unit... 8|

Thank you for the information strmn54, the design and a photo of the interior of the smoke unit can be seen a couple of posts above.

Joe, now you know how I feel! :haha: But I was running mine off of a 2.4 gig board which may be the problem.

I plan to try to wire it like Strmnd54 said as I was thinking along the same lines, that the board isn't letting the smoker get full power so if I bypass the board it SHOULD/DAMN SIGHT BETTER work! :haha: Even considering adding a battery dedicated to just the smoker and then tap into the motors to make them spin the fan faster to make it proportional.

Jack I am running mine from the Taigen 2.4 board. I just put another MK I smoker in my Torro King Tiger 2.4GHZ board last night. Runs fine, and on the NIMH battery. Strmn54 may have the solution for you however. I'm wondering if I were to run one to a motor if it would be proportional?

Are you hooking yours to a Heng Long 2,4 gig board, if so, I can't see why that would make a difference anyway.

I ordered two more last night from him for my Shermans. Are you in the US Jack. If you are, I would be willing to send you one when they show up for you to try to see if there is a difference between the MK I and MK II.

*sigh* I'm running mine off of the same board you are, a Taigen 2.4. Damn WTF? Ok maybe yours has more output then mine. Yup I'm in the U.S. and wow thanks for the offer man! We're supposed to get almost a foot of snow between tonight and tomorrow so I may try working on it.
