Tank won't run forward

Post by Hotlipz »

Hiya, I will say from the start I am Newbie so my knowledge of electronics is limited. I am in the process of making some of the modifications to a HL Tiger as suggested on this website. During the course of this I have upgraded the circuit board to an RX18 and have tested the unit up until now with no problems in the movement of the tank. This however changed recently during a final test before painting and the unit has suddenly stopped running forward. When you try to reverse it takes a second or two before deciding to move. None of the wiring has been removed from the RX18 so I can rule out connections in the wrong location. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Try unclipping the case, and take a look at the FETS, they are the upright pcb's with the black chips on them. Check that none of them are scorched, because if they are then they are fried, and a new RX18 is the only option.

If the board does not show any signs of being burnt out, then check that everything else works, oh, and one thing to check is that the battery is fully charged, as if it is down to anywhere near 6v the tank will behave the way that you have described.

Battery is usually the culprit. Also the stock wall wart battery charger is not the best either, and the supplied battery when they drop in voltage, they just crashed. I would make sure battery is fully charged and try it again before opening up anything.

Hi, I would also change the "AA" batteries in the Transmitter.
It is, as has been observed, pretty much always the basic things that let you down. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
