The Tiger and King Tigers are great but like the real things they'll give you the most problems.

For a 10 year old I'd go for a PzIII, PzIV or M4 Sherman as they seem to be the best straight out of the box runners. The M26 and Panther are also good but I haven't had much experience with them.

Re metal gears/tracks - they make the tanks more realistic but put extra strain on other components which'll increase the chance of something breaking.

MR Orange, It is not so much the Tank, although the latest Leo from HENG LONG is a very nice piece of kit, you should always look to the right and see who the dealer is, HOBBY-POWER is the E-BAY name of HOWES of Kidlington and they have a very good reputation, look out for CHARLATANS! I assume you noticed the price? And Hobby-Power are one of the cheaper dealers. :O shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Are you buying for a 10 year old or for when the 10 year old gets bored and moves onto something else?

Heng Long

No cheap M4's on ebay at the moment but I've had 3 for under £90 each.

By the way if you get the Panther then make sure it's the Panther G. At all costs avoid the early Heng Long Panther-

Panther type G in the second link.

The Panther G looks like a Panther Tank. The early Panther is really a Tiger tank thats been changed to look like a Panther (Heng long trying to save money)
