I know when I was younger and got models my father had to help me with I was not happy "helping" him put together my model. He never built it how I wanted it, never painted it right in my mind and just screwed the whole thing up to me.

I think you guys will be very happy with the Torro King Tiger and you're 100% it can always be re-painted and weathered and detailed. Just remember to have fun with it, listen to what he wants to do if it is his even if it sounds silly. Coming from a guy who's dad never did anything the way he wanted it done I can tell you it is important. But the most important thing is for you guys to have fun with it!

Gee Jack, are we brothers?

Finally she's arrived. I ordered her a week ago from a German seller on eBay and she was delivered this afternoon. First impressions are good. I was worried slightly because I own a Tamiya Jagdpanther and it runs so sweetly. I'm a big fan of good low speed control verses out right speed, and although my 2 taigen tigers are pretty good runners, they're not a patch on my Tamiya.

In truth I needn't have worried, sure it isn't a tamiya, and I prefer the 2 stick steering of my JP but the Torro isn't too bad at all. I don't like how sensitive the super spin is, and spend most of my first run learning to get it to drive one track and not the other to turn, but I think that's more me being used to the controls of the Tamiya. Build quality is excellent! The weld lines are really impressive as is the paint work given that it's a factory job and the flash of the main gun, and it's recoil is most impressive! She weighs a ton, looks good, is neat and tidy on the inside and with the 360 degree turret, cracking wooden storage box makes for a great buy if you don't fancy building a kit like Tamiya. Overall, defo worth the money so a huge thanks to everyone who helped steer me towards the Torro, particularly Horses.

Is this the full metal version??? IMO...you can always change out the internals...you can't get what Torro gives you on the hull with a Tamiya...but that's beside the point...main thing is you got it...and now you can play with it :D

Pictures would be nice

Yeah it is, professional edition I think they call it, and that's a very valid point mate. I'm already thinking of changing the electronics. It's a really beauty of a machine, the more I sit and look at it and have a fiddle, the more impressed I become.

I'll post some pics up after tea. ;)

Why don"t you want to build your own tank, to put your own spin on. As your paint job, weathering and finish. Tamiya gives you that choice
to do any thing you want. Plus they just work well.

I have a Tamiya Jagdpanther and love it but as I said in my first post this one was as a father son bonding thing for my 6 year old son and after thinking it through and talking with him we decided that building a kit was too much. The Torro will will be painted and weather to some degree, in fact we've already started, and this is the most fun part really. I prefer it to driving them lol.

Hey Warhawk ...been awhile  ....sounds like you got the Tamiya bug :haha: ...I like them for certain things...but in a way I do find Tamiyas lacking in some ways if you compare what you pay for them...and what you pay for a RTR ...even if you took out all the internals in an RTR...you cannot deny that they provide you with sound and a smoker ...so you would have to add that to the cost of building a Tamiya...as they don't take that into consideration

Something I always consider being on a budget and all ;)
