Re: casting numbers on TIGER 1
I appreciate all the help.... I have looked over the photos of 332 and others in 503 so will probably go with the TAMIYA PAINT SCHEME for this early machine. I have struck problems with the IMPACT, RECOIL UPGRADE FOR THE TAMIYA KING TIGER. The RECOIL spring stretches causing the whole mechanism to fail. I had hoped to improve the recoil as it was too slow for accuracy but only ended up with a system that does not work..... if anyone has upgraded or installed the IMPACT recoil upgrade I would appreciate some assistance on how to get it to work as the instructions are very scant on accuracy. I built this tank some 14 years ago without one problem and it still works fine but the RECOIL modification seems clumsy and unreliable.. and I would not recommend it..... but you may have a different story...

RECOIL UPGRADE FOR TAMIYA 1/16 TIGER
Thanks for that info..... I am not a complete dummy when building these R/C KITS and had no problem with the electronics. The KING TIGER was built some 12 years ago and I recently decided to install the recoil upgrade from IMPACT. This is a kit with modified electronics, a spring return action and modified Cogs. The pictures shown on the plans, which are basic at best, seem to show a recoil system which differs from the KING TIGER. After numerous attempts to get the main recoil cog to sync with the motor, the spring stretched to the point where it became in effective. I also found the tension of the spring too much for the TAMIYA recoil motor, which seemed to struggle. I tried various modifications to try to get it to function but the gears would not mesh properly (motor and main recoil gears) so that the barrel would not return after firing ( the gears not engaging). As the spring is now stretched it is inoperable. Somehow this upgrade does not seem correct for the KING TIGER. IMPACT has kits for the various TAMIYA tanks with the kits for the KING TIGER and TIGER looking identical according to the photos. The kit I received was marked for the TIGER 1 which I intend to build, but thought to try it out on my KING TIGER as it looks the same in the photos. It may be that the kits are different and the photos an indication only, but I have the two instruction sheets for both models and they are identical. I hope to be corrected as this has been an expensive exercise. It may be I got it wrong.
Cheers.
