My Hulls from Rcparty.com Arrived! After A Slight Delay

Post by Marc780 »

of almost two months. I ordered a new Panzer Mk III hull on November 12 and a Jagpanther upper hull on November 28.
The JP upper hull, cost me $40.33 shipped, and the Mk III hull, $42, including a speaker that I ordered too. Part of the delay was caused by an issue they said they had with China post, due to oversize package...they managed to fit the two upper hulls into one package without destroying them both. And in fact the box was the same size as the one a new tank comes in. The thing about this company is the parts themselves are dirt cheap for what you get, it's the shipping, that is often more then the part itself, naturally.

I emailed them before i bought asking if they included the electrics already fitted -the whole reason I needed it - and they said that they did. And indeed both hulls came wired up just like new, the inside of the Panzer III shown below.

The Jagdpanther project is going on the back burner, I may just order an entire lower hull from RCParty since, the used ebay lower hull i bought for $20 is marginal (I know right?) . I may not even paint the new hull, at least not for some time...I have so many projects - still working on installing the Henntech idler on my King tiger. All I've done so far is basic fitting, and to grind off the hull for the idler system. Have not even drilled the holes yet.

The Mark III is one of my tanks that I should have given up on but didn't. I had so many problems with the electronics, despite the help of many kind people on this forum including sending me way too many parts, I could not keep it running and at one point it was basically nothing more then a self-propelled static model.

Here's the old, cursed upper hull and the replacement

The electronics problems in the upper hull of the Mark III, just came one after another. I fixed one thing and two more would break. I'm convinced anyone else would have tossed the whole thing into the dumpster: first the turret traverse quit, then the gun elevation. Fixed those for a while, and the elevation quit again. Then the traverse went out for a second time and I actually tried patching a rewire, ...and while testing turret function before soldering the wires for keeps, I managed to torch a $35 2.4 Ghz Rx :{ ......At that point I realized I either had to give up or do a rebuild and starting with a new upper hull was the cheapest easiest way. Since nothing is wrong with the lower hull I left as is, and I ordered the new upper hull to hopefully, end all the electrical problems...

I hooked up the electrics, on the panzer III, everything works. Thank goodness. I have a lot of work to get the JP hull ready...might even just swap my panther G hull for the JP for a while, just to try it out, heck even the camo matches. I am up to 6 (SIX) tanks now, 3 of which work - all the experten here, who so graciously imparted their knowledge whenever i asked, know all about this situation I'm sure. I need to seriously take a break from the hobby even if it's a week...but then I just ordered metal treads for my Panther G yet. I like the panther so much, the King Tiger hentech mod's fallen by the wayside. I think one or two tanks are going to have to go soon!

Thanks Merlin...I was happy to get the parts, it was a mixed bag of products after the hard trip across the Pacific...I only noticed til later, the JP hull had a crack in it! In the rear hull area where the spare tracks would go...was about 3 inches long. I knew it would be pointless exercise to complain as they'd want the old one back - and if the shipping is handled by trained monkeys it's unfair toe blame the company for that - i did choose economy... Oh what a rough trip it must had on the slow boat from China. M orevero, i took a close look at the main gun on the Jagpanther, it was out of place in its pivot. One of the pivots on the gun were not in there mount. Simple to fix, at least, I loosen the screws on the two brackets and simply placed the gun back in place. Still have not hooked it up to try the electronics.
After being in the hobby a year now, having to buy EVERYTHING online from overseas (There are NO retailers in the US except artistic hobbies and Imex and their selection is bare minimum). it was dismaying but not exactly shocking...glued up the crack straight away and going to cover it over with spare tracks or some such. So glad I'm in the tank hobby where damage is actually considered a mod...
I guess the surprise was not the crack - they jammed two upper tank hulls in one package with shoddy packing material - but that the Panzer III hull is flawless and works perfectly.

I guess i will buy from them again, sooner or later. You can get a panther lower hull with wheels for $31 shipped for instance. Just can't beat their price and selection anywhere. I can now vouch they're reputable, insofar you will get your parts even if you have a Rip van Winlle beard by the time it gets there. Lead time for the is about 6 weeks. (If you go to the site and look at your parts, and add to the cart, remember do not be shocked by the shipping - it automatically adds the expensive shipping, just click below and it shows the much less expensive Epacket shipping).
The parts take forever but they do arrive, and these folks can get damn near anything Heng Long even metal tracks. I asked do they have king tiger parts they told me they can get them Thinking of building another KT, I certainly have half the parts for another one, even an upper hull...
